Women’s Tennis downs Belmont in 4-1 road win

Lions roll to fourth-straight victory with first-ever win over Bruins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 14, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team opened its weekend in winning fashion, earning a road victory over Belmont 4-1 in Nashville, Tenn.

North Alabama (5-2) tallied its fifth win of the season with a strong display against the Bruins. The Lions swept their doubles bouts to start, eventually taking three of four completed singles matches to claim a fourth-consecutive victory. It also marked the first win over Belmont in program history.

Five Lions registered wins, led by junior Eeva Ristola and freshman Sammie Schouten. Both were victorious in their respective singles and doubles bouts. Junior Louise Booker and freshman Farah Asaad also helped claim UNA's early advantage with doubles victories. Junior Emma Ansorge tallied a victory in singles, continuing her perfect start to the season.

Ristola and Asaad opened doubles with a 6-1 top-flight win over Jessica Popiol and Savannah Webster. Booker and Schouten followed up with their own 6-1 triumph from court three over Libbie Hamilton and Emma Grant. Junior Mathilde Delaney and Ansorge led 4-3 from court two prior to the Lions' winning doubles.

Ansorge took the first victory in singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Mia Jones from court two. The junior remains undefeated in singles play with the win moving her to 5-0. Ristola moved to 4-0 in singles after a 6-0, 6-2 result from court one over Webster.

Belmont answered with a court-four win, but UNA's Schouten clinched the team victory after a 6-1, 6-3 win from court five over Hamilton.

Courts three and six went unfinished, but Delaney and Asaad held advantages from their respective flights.

Delaney held a one-set advantage in a 6-2, 5-5 scoreline against Cielo Tapia-Cruz from Flight No. 3. Asaad was also victorious in set one, leading 7-5, 3-1 against the Bruins' Grant from the sixth court.
