NOTES

LAST TIME OUT: UNA completed a four-game home stand on Wednesday with a competitive game against one of the top teams in the ASUN, but Queens did enough late to steal an 85-78 road win in CB&S Bank Arena. Each team held an eight-point lead at one point, but neither led by more than that. There were 12 lead changes in the game, but only one in the first half as UNA led for 17 minutes. Queens surged ahead in the second half with 57 points. Sophomore Kevin de Kovachich matched a career-high with 23 points, while redshirt junior Corneilous Williams scored 20 points with 11 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: UNA has three games remaining and will automatically play in the first round of the 2026 ASUN Championship Tournament in Jacksonville. UNA has three opportunities to improve its place in the standings with games at Lipscomb and West Georgia and a home game with Bellarmine. The Lions are one game back of North Florida for 11th in the standings. Senior Donte Bacchus leads the way right now with 15.0 PPG.

SCOUTING THE BISONS: The Bisons are among the top four teams in the ASUN and have clinched a first round bye for the 2025 ASUN Championship with a 10-5 record in ASUN play. The Bisons are 12-1 at home this season and are the only team to beat Austin Peay in league play. The only home loss for Lipscomb came to Central Arkansas. The Bisons are getting 14.4 PPG from Grant Asman and 11.0 PPG from both Charlie Williams and Ethan Duncan. Kevin Carroll is in his first season as head coach after taking over for Lennie Acuff this offseason.

SERIES HISTORY: UNA and Lipscomb have a rich tradition in basketball with 83 all-time meetings. The Bisons lead the all-time series with a 52-31 record, dating all the way back to 1931 when UNA was coached by Eddie Flowers, the namesake of CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall.

LAST MEETING: A sellout crowd with a near 50-50 split of Lipscomb and UNA fans showed up to Allen Arena on March 9, 2025 for the ASUN Championship Final. The environment did not disappoint, as the co-regular season champions put on a show. Lipscomb defeated the Lions 76-65 in the game, as Lipscomb went on to the NCAA Tournament and UNA was selected for the NIT.

ANOTHER EPIC IN 2024: Two years ago, when UNA played Lipscomb in Allen Arena in the ASUN Quarterfinal, the game made national headlines as the Lions defeated Lipscomb 77-75. Former Lipscomb player KJ Johnson, who later transferred to UNA, hit the buzzer beater against his former team and was the #1 play on SportsCenter.

BACK TO FORM: Corneilous Williams led the ASUN in rebounding last season and has led the league for almost the entirety of this season. Williams has only entered four games this year without being the ASUN's leading rebounder. He is currently averaging 9.6 RPG to rank ahead of Shelton Williams-Dryden of West Georgia in second at 9.3 RPG.

SIXTH-YEAR SENIOR: Dallas Howell is the longest-tenured member of the program with six seasons at UNA, including a COVID-19 season and an injury redshirt last season. He is one just seven players in Division to play for six seasons, but he is the only one to play all six at the same school. The other schools with a sixth-year player include Oklahoma, Iowa State, USC, Texas, Bowling Green and Tarleton State.

TWENTY-PIECE NUGGET: Bacchus remains UNA's leading scorer at 15.0 PPG and has scored 20 or more points seven times this season, including five of the last eight games. He had 21 points on Sunday in the ESPNU win over EKU.

CANADIAN SCORER: By way of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and later Hamilton Height Academy in Chattanooga, de Kovachich has been an instrumental offensive piece for UNA the last few games. Last time out against Queens, he matched a career-high 23 points. This is also a new high against Division I opponents, as the first 23-point game came against Dalton State last season.

STAYING OUT OF FOUL TROUBLE: UNA currently ranks 30th in the country with only 15.2 fouls per game. The top mark is only 12.5 fouls per game by South Alabama.

SHOWING UP: UNA looks to lead the ASUN in average attendance for a second straight season, currently averaging 2,353 fans per game. The Lions averaged 2,367 fans per game last season, ranking ahead of FGCU and Lipscomb in second and third, respectively.
