Women’s Tennis begins two-dual home slate Friday

Lions kick off home schedule vs. EKU and Mississippi Valley State

FLORENCE, Ala. (February 26, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team hosts EKU and Mississippi Valley State for its first two home matches in Florence on Feb. 27 and 28.

The Lions begin the weekend from the UNA Tennis Courts vs. EKU on Friday, Feb. 27 before concluding against Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, Feb. 28. Both matches are scheduled for first serve at 10 a.m.

Both matches will have live stats and live-streaming options that will be available for viewing closer to each dual's start time. Full results and a recap will be posted on RoarLions.com following each day, but fans can also follow along on the UNA Tennis social media pages.

SCOUTING THE LIONS:
North Alabama looks to extend its five-dual win streak in action from Florence. Last time out, UNA earned its fifth and sixth win of the season with victories over Belmont and Alabama A&M on Feb. 14-15. The team is winning singles matches at a 68.6 percent rate and doubles at 55.6 percent. Junior Emma Ansorge leads the way for the Lions with unbeaten records across singles and doubles. She owns a 6-0 record in singles while 4-0 in doubles. Senior Eeva Ristola is perfect in singles at 5-0, and junior Mathilde Delaney owns a perfect 4-0 record in doubles.

SCOUTING EKU: EKU has a 6-6 record on the season. They have won four-straight duals with the last matcup coming in a 5-2 win vs. Bowling Green on Feb. 15. Masha Fedenko is the current Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, sporting 11 wins across singles and doubles. EKU has two additional players with five singles victories (Marilou Cote and Ceylin Ipek). Anastasiia Cherniakova leads the Colonels with a 6-0 doubles record. The head coach for EKU is Adam Cohen.

SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama has a 2-1 all-time series lead over EKU. The Lions have won two straight over the Colonels with the last meeting coming in a 5-2 road victory on April 4, 2025.

SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE: Mississippi Valley State kicks off its 2026 season against the Lions. Leading the Devilettes is Riley Murry.

SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama leads the series against Mississippi Valley State, 6-0. The Lions secured a 4-0 sweep over the Devilettes in the last meeting on April 8, 2025 in Florence, Ala.
