CARROLLTON, Ga. (February 28, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday at West Georgia, coming up short in a 75-63 road loss to the Wolves in Carrollton, Ga.
The Lions close the regular season with a 9-20 overall record and a 4-14 finish in Atlantic Sun Conference play. However, the slate will be wiped clean and a new chapter will begin as UNA will enter the 2026 ASUN Tournament next week in Jacksonville, Fla.
UNA will be the No. 12 seed and will play FGCU in the first round Wednesday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. CT inside UNF Arena on the campus of North Florida. The winner will advance to play No. 4 Lipscomb in the quarterfinal round Friday at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
Meanwhile, West Georgia finishes 14-16 overall and 8-10 in ASUN play, locking up the No. 6 seed.
The full bracket will be released following the final regular season game between Jacksonville and North Florida, which tipped at 5 p.m. CT. All information regarding the tournament can be found at this link.
As for the regular season finale, UNA had three players reach double figures with 16 points from sophomore Kevin de Kovachich, 15 from true freshman Braylon Patton and 13 from senior Donte Bacchus. Those three combined for all seven of UNA's steals defensively.
An encouraging sign heading into postseason play, sophomore DarKaun King made his first appearance in over a month with five points and 18 minutes played. King last appeared at Queens on Jan. 21, but left just five minutes into the game with a persistent injury.
For West Georgia, all-conference candidate Shelton Williams-Dryden led with 30 points and six rebounds.
