CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (February 7, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's basketball team got off to a solid start against Atlantic Sun Conference leader Austin Peay on Saturday, but an 11-0 run midway into the first half sparked a 91-62 win for the Govs inside F&M Bank Arena.
The Lions (7-15, 2-9 ASUN) once again played without the services of Canin Jefferson and DarKaun King, relying on their five starters for most of the contest. All but four points came from the starting unit.
True freshman Braylon Patton had his fourth career start, finishing with 19 points to set a new career-high. His previous high was 13 at EKU. Senior Donte Bacchus also had 19 points, as he is averaging 21.0 points per game in the last four outings. He also had a game-high seven rebounds.
Austin Peay (17-6, 11-1 ASUN) maintained its lead in the current ASUN standings by at least 1.5 games pending results from Lipscomb and Central Arkansas. The Govs also improved to 11-0 at home this season and snapped a three-game losing streak in the all-time series with UNA.
Despite the loss, UNA won the rebound battle with a 33-28 advantage and a 17-7 advantage on the offensive glass. APSU shot over 63 percent from the field while UNA shot 41.3 percent. There were also very limited fouls in this matchup with just 18 combined free throws. UNA went 7-9 while APSU went 6-9.
After 23 days without a home game, the UNA men's basketball team will finally return to CB&S Bank Arena to open a four-game home stand against Central Arkansas on Monday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
Monday's game will be a black out, as fans are encouraged to wear black. The first 100 students will receive a black UNA hat compliments of President Ken Kitts and First Lady of UNA Dena Kitts.
