Baseball earned final game with 7-3 Sunday showing

Stogner led Lions to five shutout innings against Southern Indiana

FLORENCE, Ala. (March 1, 2026) – The University of North Alabama baseball team earned the final game win over Southern Indiana at Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium on Sunday, 7-3. 

North Alabama (7-5) was led by senior right handed pitcher John Allen Stogner who threw five shutout innings with two strikeouts and allowed only two hits. 

The Lions had 10 hits to create their seven runs as third baseman Dylan Coleman went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a home run. 

Alex Wade received the start in center field and blasted a 383-foot home run over the left field wall for his first of the year.

Southern Indiana (8-4) threw nine pitchers in their nine innings of work with Ryan Skwarek earning his first loss of the season.

North Alabama snaps its three-game losing skid with the win today; the Lions have not lost a game when earning double-digit hits during a contest. UNA had a team-high 34 at-bats on Sunday afternoon.

Three pitchers toed the rubber after Stogner's start with Carlos Carmona, Sawyer Toney and Kelly Crumpton closing the final four innings. Toney saw seven batters and struck out four of them in his 1.2 innings of work.
