FLORENCE, Ala. (March 14, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team rolled to a ninth-straight victory Saturday afternoon in a 4-0 sweep over Murray State in Florence, Ala.
The Lions (10-2) moved to 4-0 in home duals this season with the win. North Alabama additionally claimed its second all-time victory and second straight against Murray State.
The dual started competitively in doubles before three-straight singles victories secured the home win for UNA. The teams split the opening two doubles matches with the deciding match going to juniors Emma Ansorge and Mathilde Delaney.
The two triumphed over Arden Dethridge and Sofia Issakova with a 6-3 court two victory. Murray State claimed the opening doubles match from court three before senior Eeva Ristola and freshman Farah Asaad defeated Yuna Kadowaki and Yu Kikawa from court one, 6-2.
In singles, freshman Sammie Schouten won first in a 6-0, 6-3 victory from court four over Issakova. Junior Mathilde Delaney tallied the second UNA singles win in a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Kikawa from court three. The Lions' deciding win came via Ansorge, who defeated Kadowaki from court two, 6-1, 6-3.
Courts one, five and six went unfinished, but junior Louise Booker led 7-5, 4-1 from the fifth flight over Bruna Melato. Senior Senem Ocal was rallying towards forcing a third set after leading 4-1 in the second.
