HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (March 15, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team was victorious Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 road win over Alabama A&M in Huntsville, Ala.
North Alabama (9-7) captured the win over the in-state rival using a strong effort in singles play. The Lions dropped the doubles point to the Bulldogs but captured four wins in singles to secure their ninth victory of the season. It also marks the fifth-straight win in the series history and 33rd all time for UNA.
Juniors Alberto Altur and Izan Orgiles helped lead the Lions to victory along with sophomore Samu Dominguez and freshman Benjamin Meyers. Altur captured his ninth singles win while Orgiles rolled to his eighth. Dominguez and Meyers both tallied their seventh wins of the season.
Alabama A&M (3-10) took the top two flights in doubles to give the Bulldogs the one-point advantage early. North Alabama answered back quickly in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory from Meyers over Lebogang Mashego from court six. Altur gave the Lions the 2-1 advantage after a 6-0, 6-3 win from court two over Yin Chih Lan.
Orgiles followed with a win from court three, defeating Tasso Moreira, 6-2, 6-4. Dominguez settled the dual from court five after a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Eduardo De Benedictis Andretta.
