FLORENCE, Ala. (March 17, 2026) – The University of North Alabama baseball team dropped their midweek against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, 10-9 in Florence, Ala.
Sophomore Wes Walker led the day hitting 3-for-5 with four RBIs, two runs and a home run. Petey Craska followed him up with a 2-for-4 night, three RBIs and two doubles.
North Alabama (8-13) scored five runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to create the nine runs while clawing back from an 8-0 deficit.
Aside from Craska and Walker, Will Millard had two hits while Justin Santoyo, Bryant Loving and Jackson Westmoreland each had one.
This is now the second loss when the Lions have 10 or more hits this season — the team was 5-1 when doing so entering this contest.
Walker, Millard and Santoyo plated twice in the contest while Loving, Westmoreland and Nash Rippen all had one run each.
Rippen extended his reaching base safely streak to 18.
Tennessee Tech (9-12) was helped with hit batters that turned into a grand slam in the second inning to jump to a 7-0 lead. After adding one in the third and fighting off a UNA rally, the Golden Eagles had a two-run shot in the top of the ninth to take the eventual win.
Tyler Rice received his first start of the season. The graduate right-handed pitcher threw 1.0 innings with a strikeout while allowing one run in five batters faced.
Kevin Henrich and Jordan Touhey saw time in the second inning before Justus Agosto toed the mound to right the ship. Agosto threw 2.2 innings, allowing only one run with a strikeout in 11 batters.
Jake Boynar stepped to the rubber in the fifth inning throwing 4.2 innings, a new season-high which recently was set against Ole Miss with 3.0 innings pitched. During that time, he saw 21 batters and punched out six, another season high.
Gavin Oswald finished the final out with a strikeout.
This is North Alabama's fifth best average from the plate this season with a .286.
Walker's four RBIs, Craska's two doubles and Rippen's three walks all tied individual game highs for a player this season in their respective categories.
