JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 2, 2026) – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced the 2026 postseason awards for women's basketball Monday morning, with senior guard Alexsandra Alvarado receiving a Second Team All-ASUN selection and freshman Gabby Jackson named to the All-Freshman team.
Alvarado and Jackson made a major impact in their first seasons at UNA. Alvarado's prolific scoring, playmaking and defense picked up North Alabama's fifth all-time second-team honor and first since the 2022-23 season. Jackson blossomed into a solid contributor with her all-around game, securing UNA's third ASUN freshman-team nod all-time and the first since 2023-24.
Alvarado appeared in all 29 games with 26 starts, averaging 13.9 PPG on 39.5 percent shooting. She finished top 10 in the ASUN in scoring (10th), free-throw percentage (76.4 percent/eighth), 3-pointers per game (1.86/eighth), assists (3.21/seventh) and assist/turnover ratio (1.19/sixth). She earned one conference weekly honor after being named both ASUN Player and Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 2.
The Richmond, Calif. native was an offensive star in conference-only play, ranking second in both points per game (15.7) and assists (3.94). She owns two of the top three scoring outputs among ASUN players – both coming in conference play — 39 vs. West Georgia on Feb. 28 and 37 at Jacksonville on Jan. 17.
Her 39 points against West Georgia set a Division I program record for single-game points. Prior to this season, the record was set with 35 points from Ivy Wallen, who was recently announced into the ASUN Hall of Fame.
Defensively, Alvarado was a strong defender that helped North Alabama finish the regular season 80th in the NCAA in field-goal percentage defense (38.1 percent). She finished tied for 18th in the conference in steals per game (1.4 per game) and had at least one steal in 21 games. Alvarado tallied at least two steals in 13 games with a season-high four against Queens on Jan. 22.
She was a master at drawing charges, totaling 32 charges this season for a 1.1 per-game average. Alvarado had nine games with at least two charges and had taken at least one charge in 18 of 29 games.
Jackson finished her first collegiate regular season averaging 7.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. A beast on the boards, she finished ninth in the ASUN in rebounding and led all freshmen in total rebounds and rebounds per game. Jackson also finished sixth in the ASUN in defensive rebounds per game (5.48).
Jackson registered five double-digit rebound games, totaling the 10th most among ASUN players while leading all freshmen. She had a career-high 13 rebounds at Tennessee State on Nov. 19, 2025. She also led all freshmen in the ASUN with three double-doubles while tied for ninth among all ASUN players.
The Kansas City, Mo. native scored in double figures nine times on the season with a career-high 21 vs. EKU on Jan. 8. Jackson was a two-time ASUN Freshman of the Week winner on Jan. 12 and 20.
The awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.
Jacksonville's Priscilla Williams was voted the ASUN Player of the Year. Central Arkansas's Bree Stephens was voted Defensive Player of the Year, and EKU's Joseana Vaz was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.
EKU Head Coach Greg Todd took home Coach of the Year honors after leading the Colonels to a first-place finish. Ndidiamaka Ndukwe from EKU was named Sixth Man of the Year, while Tatum Brown of Jacksonville took home Freshman of the Year. EKU's Liz Freihofer was also named ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Alvarado, Jackson and the Lions begin the 2026 ASUN Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. on Tuesday, March 3. UNA will face Queens in the first round at 6:30 p.m. CT.
