Women’s Tennis ends win streak at unbeaten North Florida

Lions drop 11-match win streak in battle

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 22, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback Sunday morning vs. Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Florida, ending a historic 11-match win streak in Jacksonville, Fla.

North Alabama (12-3) dropped its first dual since Jan. 30 in conference action against the undefeated Ospreys. North Florida moved to 17-0 with the win but needed a rally with the Lions having a strong start in singles play.

The Ospreys started the dual winning the doubles point, taking two of the three courts. UNA answered back in singles by winning the opening sets in four of the six singles matches. North Florida responded by rallying in three of those courts en route to the win.

Juniors Mathilde Delaney and Emma Ansorge opened with the first doubles win in a 6-2 victory from court two over Anslee Long and Aryana Bartlett. Courts one and three saw North Florida win 6-3 and 6-2 to take the 1-0 team lead.

Freshman Sammie Schouten provided the first singles win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over May Fadida from court four. North Florida answered back with straight set victories from courts five and six to move to 3-1 on the team score.

The top three flights were three-set battles but went in favor of the Ospreys. Ansorge, Delaney and senior Eeva Ristola all had strong starts with victories in the opening frame, but North Florida's Bartlett provided the clinching win from court three over Delaney, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Ansorge dropped her first singles match all season in a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 setback vs. Laurie Barendse from the top flight. The final match saw Isabel Oliviera claim a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 result over Ristola.
