DELAND, Fla. (March 25, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep Wednesday morning over Milwaukee to conclude their Spring Break road trip in DeLand, Fla.
North Alabama (13-3) returned to the win column with the victory in DeLand, also rolling to their first-ever triumph over the Panthers in the first official meeting. Today marked UNA's seventh sweep of the season in a strong effort across the board.
The Lions took two of the three doubles courts before claiming all six singles bouts. Five of the victories came in straight sets, while the final completed bout from flight one resulted in a triumph for junior Emma Ansorge.
Ansorge, junior Mathilde Delaney, junior Louise Booker and freshman Sammie Schouten all finished with two wins between singles and doubles. Seniors Eeva Ristola and Senem Ocal were also winners in their respective singles bouts.
Booker and Schouten started the day with a 6-1 victory from court three over Elisa Rubio and Honoka Yamashita. Ansorge and Delaney clinched the doubles point with 6-2 win over Nadiia Konieva and Sara Simonova from the top flight. The two tallied their first win from court one and improved to 12-0 in doubles.
Delaney carried her momentum into singles with 6-0, 6-0 victory from court three over Simonova. Booker registered the second singles win with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph from court five over Rubio. Schouten totaled the winning team point with her 6-2, 6-3 singles win over Laure Razet from court four.
Ristola defeated Konieva from court two with a 6-3, 6-0 result. Ocal added to UNA's winning ways with a 6-4, 6-2 win from court six over Yamashita. Ansorge battled into a super tiebreak third set but came out victorious over Nel Van Hout from flight one, 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-4).
