FLORENCE, Ala. — The University of North Alabama baseball team fell to Bellarmine 16-6 in the opening game of a weekend series Friday at Knights Field in Louisville, Kentucky.
North Alabama (11-14, 4-3 ASUN) fell behind early as Bellarmine took a 5-0 lead. The Lions responded with six runs across the third, fourth and fifth innings, finishing with 11 hits.
Jackson Westmoreland and Wes Walker each had three hits in four at-bats. Westmoreland scored twice, while Walker scored once and led the team with two RBIs.
Petey Craska went 2-for-2 with a run, a walk and a hit by pitch. Dylan Coleman added a double and an RBI while scoring a run. Justin Santoyo had a double, drove in a run and walked twice.
Bellarmine (9-15, 3-4 ASUN) pulled away with three innings of four or more runs to secure the run-rule victory.
The Lions used five pitchers, with Justin Battle providing 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out two.
Luke Davenport made his second Friday start of the season before Battle entered in the first inning. Justus Agosto followed in the fourth, with Gavin Oswald and Jordan Touhey also seeing action.
North Alabama recorded 10 or more hits for the 10th time this season and is 7-3 in those games.
Nash Rippen extended his on-base streak to 22 games with a sixth-inning single, while Millard's streak stands at 20 games. Westmoreland has hit safely in 10 straight games, the longest active streak on the team.
When Bellarmine traveled to Florence in 2025, the Knights run-ruled North Alabama before the Lions responded with two consecutive wins.
