FLORENCE, Ala. (March 30, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team readies for its Senior Day dual Tuesday, March 31 against Tennessee State from the UNA Tennis Courts in Florence, Ala.
The Lions will be in search of its seventh home win of the campaign, also looking to finish their home schedule unbeaten in 2026. UNA readies for the home contest with the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament over two weeks away and will look to close out the home careers of seniors Eeva Ristola and Senem Ocal on a high note.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: The Lions were winners in their last outing vs. Milwaukee with a 7-0 sweep on March 25. The neutral-site victory marked UNA's seventh sweep of the season and sixth in their previous 10 duals. North Alabama has won 12 of its previous 13 duals since Jan. 30. UNA continues to have strong numbers in singles and doubles play, winning 72.5 percent of singles bouts and 65.8 percent of doubles. Five Lions have six or more singles wins led by 12 from junior Emma Ansorge. Freshman Sammie Schouten is second with 11 victories, and both Ristola and junior Mathilde Delaney own eight wins. Ansorge and Delaney are unbeaten in doubles this season with a 12-0 record. They lead the team in doubles victories followed by seven each from Ristola and freshman Farah Asaad.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE STATE: The Tigers enter looking for their first win of the season at 0-11. Tennessee State is led by four seniors on the roster in Aroa Arrieta Castillo, Taylor Ellis, Claudia Murdasanu and Jovana Nikolic. The roster rounds out with junior Natalie Walsh along with sophomores Victoria Cooksey and Julie Tungamarial. The head coach for the Tigers is John Trondson.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama and Tennessee State meet for the third time in the series history. The Lions hold a 2-0 lead after claiming wins in 2020 and 2024.
