FLORENCE, Ala. (March 5, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team preps for a second-straight weekend of action in Florence, facing Troy and Atlantic Sun Conference rival FGCU on Friday and Sunday from the UNA Tennis Courts.
The Lions first face Troy on Friday, March 6 at 1 p.m. before ending the weekend against FGCU on Sunday, March 8 at 10 a.m.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama has won seven-straight duals entering the weekend, last time out defeating both EKU and Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 27-28 with 4-0 and 7-0 sweeps, respectively. Both victories increased UNA's singles and doubles win percentages with the Lions now winning 73.8 percent of singles and 63.6 percent of doubles. Junior Emma Ansorge continues to blaze through singles and doubles with unbeaten records, sporting a 7-0 singles record while 6-0 in doubles. Senior Eeva Ristola also owns a pristine 7-0 singles record, and junior Mathilde Delaney holds an unbeaten 6-0 record in doubles.
SCOUTING TROY: Troy enters the weekend with a 4-5 record. The Trojans will look to get back in the win column after last time out falling to Mercer on Feb. 28, 4-2. The Trojans win doubles at a 56.5 percent rate but increases in singles play to 61.2 percent. Maria Guirguis and Leena Metwally both have 7-0 records in singles, and Hiba Heni and Emilia Namyslo sport the team high with six wins in doubles. Troy is coached by Rawia Elsisi.
SERIES HISTORY: The meeting is the eighth in the series history with Troy leading, 4-3. North Alabama has had the advantage in the last two meetings, with the last matchup coming in a 5-2 road win for UNA on Feb. 1, 2025.
SCOUTING FGCU: The Eagles cap their weekend with a trip to Florence sporting a 10-3 record. FGCU opens the weekend at Lipscomb on March 7, but the Eagles are coming off a 4-1 win over Toledo on March 3. Anjali Kotecha and Sabrina Jaramillo own the team-lead for singles wins with nine, followed by Nora Svensson with eight. Kotecha additionally leads in doubles with eight wins with Svensson and Ashley Matz tied for second with seven. Courtney Vernon serves as the head coach for FGCU.
SERIES HISTORY: North Alabama looks for its first all-time win over FGCU in the fifth meeting.
