FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 16, 2026) – The No. 5 seeded University of North Alabama women's tennis team charged to its first win in the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with a 4-1 victory over No. 4 Austin Peay in the quarterfinal round in Fort Myers, Fla.
UNA moves on to semifinals with the win, facing the top-seeded North Florida Ospreys on Friday, April 17 at 4 p.m. CT.
North Alabama dominated the Governors in the start of postseason play, putting on strong displays in both doubles and singles. UNA swept the doubles, 2-0, before taking three of the four completed singles bouts.
This marks the second-consecutive season the Lions have defeated the Governors to open postseason play. UNA previously beat Austin Peay 4-3 in the 2025 ASUN Tournament Quarterfinals.
Juniors Emma Ansorge and Mathilde Delaney opened the dual with a stellar 6-1 doubles win over Katie Oliver and Elena Thiel from flight two. Senior Eeva Ristola and junior Louise Booker grabbed the doubles point for UNA after downing Luca Bohlen and Yi-Chang Huang from flight one, 6-4.
The lone Governors point came from an opening singles victory from flight two. Booker answered with her second win of the day, defeating Pauline Bruns from court five, 6-3, 6-1. Ristola additionally earned a second win with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Sophia Baranov from court one.
The clinching win came from court three, as Delaney tallied her second win of the day in a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory over Luca Bohlen.
