Lipscomb pitching staff holds off Lions to win series

Rippen reaches safely for 36th straight game behind pair of doubles

FLORENCE, Ala. (April 19, 2026) — The University of North Alabama baseball team fell in game three to Lipscomb on Sunday, 6-0 at Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium. 

North Alabama (19-20, 11-7 ASUN) was limited to four hits in 30 at-bats, as left fielder Nash Rippen led the way with a pair of doubles for the afternoon game. 

Lipscomb (17-19, 10-8 ASUN) threw 12 strikeouts between the likes of Collin Bosley-Smith and Jackson Lee. Bosley-Smith earned the win after five innings of work as he allowed only two hits with eight strikeouts. Lee threw four innings with four strikeouts to close for the save. 

Rippen reached base safely for the 36th straight game on Sunday. 

UNA threw five pitchers in John Allen Stogner, Tyler Rice, Gavin Oswald, Kelly Crumpton and Hunter Bell. Rice and Crumpton combined for three strikeouts and only one hit in two innings of work. Bell went the longest with 3.0 innings pitched with one run and two hits allowed. 

Lipscomb entered the weekend with a .289 batting average, best for third in the Atlantic Sun. The Lions held the Bisons under that mark through the three games of the weekend series. 

North Alabama still sits in first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference Gold Division after this weekend with a one game lead on second place Lipscomb.
