HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 23, 2026) – The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team concluded its run in the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Tournament on Thursday, eliminating Austin Peay before dropping its final dual in a 3-1 setback to FGCU in Huntsville.

The No. 4 Lions (22-14) capped the championship with one win, taking a 3-0 victory over No. 8 Austin Peay to begin the day. The win was the fourth over the Governors this season – all coming in sweeps.

The second dual saw the Lions face No. 3 FGCU with a chance to go to the semifinals. UNA started strong with the opening win from court one, but three straight FGCU wins sealed the semifinals trip for the Eagles.

North Alabama's top four flights all picked up victories throughout the day. Senior Selma Robinson and graduate Audrey Gauthier capped their careers with a win over FGCU, securing their 23rd this season. Graduate Sarah Larkin Lewis and sophomore Paige Griner had the clinching win against Austin Peay for their 21st of the campaign. The win also marked Lewis's 50th of her career.

Sophomores Jennah Atchley and Brooke Bolden defeated the Governors to claim their 19th of the season. Freshmen Gaby Harnden and Emma White rounded out the day's wins with a victory over the Govs for their eighth of the campaign.

With UNA's tournament and season coming to a close, the Lions conclude the campaign tying the program record for wins in a season. North Alabama went 22-14 overall with a strong 6-2 record against ASUN competition. UNA also had 22 wins in 2024, going 22-13 on the season.

The season was filled with numerous accolades, including the team securing its second-ever win over UAB and first-ever triumph over Georgia State. The program also saw Selma Robinson became the all-time wins leader, capping her career with 93 victories. She additionally ranks atop the program leaderboard in career matches played at 136.


Match 1 – North Alabama 3, Austin Peay 0

North Alabama's day opened downing the Governors for the first postseason win. The middle three courts secured straight set victories to help propel the Lions to the next round.

Atchley and Bolden started with a second straight tournament win after defeating Alyson Cooper and Sage Raby from court three, 21-15, 21-7. Harnden and White nabbed their first tournament victory after a 24-22, 21-14 win from court four over Jordyn Beneteau and Addi Hultquist. Lewis and Griner staved off a rally on court two to clinch the dual in a 21-16, 22-20 triumph over Ashley Boswell and Bailey Hope.

Match 2 – FGCU 3, North Alabama 1

North Alabama battled in the bout vs. FGCU, but the Lions fell in the competitive matchup.

Robinson and Gauthier started the dual winning the first point in a 21-19, 21-19 victory over Alexis Keeter and Ava Lilliquist from court one.

The following three flights went in favor of the Eagles. Andrea Dietz and Sydney Majick nabbed FGCU's first points in a 21-17, 21-14 win from court three over Jennah Atchley and Brooke Bolden. Kaitlyn Beck and Kristina Gluc won from court four after defeating Harnden and White, 21-14, 21-14. The Eagles clinched the dual in fight on court two, with Nicole De Oliveira and Erin Miller defeating Lewis and Griner, 21-16, 21-19.
