FLORENCE, Ala. (April 27, 2026) – The University of North Alabama softball team is a nationally-ranked mid-major team for the fourth time in five weeks, coming in at No. 20 in the D1Softball rankings and No. 23 in the Softball America rankings on Monday.
The Lions dropped a tough three-game series to Central Arkansas this weekend, falling 2-1 and 6-5 in both games of a Saturday doubleheader. However, the Lions responded with a thrilling 7-3 win that took nine innings to decide in the Sunday finale.
Central Arkansas is also ranked in both polls, coming in at No. 19 in the D1Softball poll and No. 22 in the Softball America poll. The only other Atlantic Sun Conference team in the rankings is Stetson at No. 17 and No. 16, respectively.
Last week, UNA clinched its fifth-straight 30-win season and currently owns a 32-14 overall record. The Lions also have the most wins in the ASUN Gold Division with a 14-7 conference record. However, the Lions trail UCA and EKU slightly in win percentage, as both are 13-6-1 with one less game played due to a weather cancellation and a tie due to a drop-dead time.
UNA will close the regular season at home this weekend against Bellarmine, including a Friday doubleheader and Saturday's regular season finale. Both days begin at 1 p.m. at Hilda B. Anderson Softball Stadium.
