ATLANTA (April 3, 2026) – The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team secured its first victory in program history over Georgia State with a 3-2 triumph on Friday, April 3 at the GSU Diggin' Duals in Atlanta.
North Alabama (14-10) opened day one in Atlanta with its most competitive bout this season against the Sandy Panthers. The Lions would not be denied in the battle with UNA fending off three-set battles on all five flights to overcome Georgia State and capture the program-record win. North Alabama split the day after falling to UAB in the second dual.
Flights one, three and five proved key in the Lions landing the win over Georgia State. Graduate Audrey Gauthier and senior Selma Robinson stood tall from the top flight to registered their 14th win together this season.
Junior Lucy Wedding and sophomore Mabrey Whitehead provided the first win in the dual with their first victory as a pair this season from the fifth flight. Sophomores Jennah Atchley and Brooke Bolden had the clinching win from flight three in their ninth win of the season.
Match 1 — North Alabama 3, Georgia State 2
The first-ever victory over the Sandy Panthers was a true battle from the start. All five courts went into three sets, but victories on courts one and three sealed the victory over Georgia State.
The first court went to the Sandy Panthers from flight four with Kaebre Sullivan and Noalani Nuez fending off Emma White and Gaby Harnden, 21-12, 19-21, 15-7. Lucy Wedding and Mabrey Whitehead answered with a 21-13, 19-21, 15-13 triumph from court five against Ellie Neville and Kaylie Drysdale.
Two points decided the second court with Danica Singleton and Michaela Jefferson narrowly defeating Lewis and Griner, 21-18, 19-21, 17-15. Robinson and Gauthier tied the dual with a marathon from flight one, roaring to a 30-32, 25-23, 15-12 triumph over Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale.
Atchley and Bolden provided the deciding win with a third-flight victory over Kealy Dirner and Ella Mozeleski, 21-12, 19-21, 15-7.

North Alabama ended day one with a setback vs. UAB with the Blazers taking all five courts in straight sets. Atchley and Bolden had a battle in the second set from court three, but the two fell in the final match of the dual with a long second set.
