RICHMOND, Va. (April 6, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's golf team finished the first two rounds at the Giles-Sprately Collegiate in Virginia on Monday, sitting sixth place at even-par at Independence Golf Club.
Senior Xing Luo led the Lions with a two-under first two rounds to take 12th place. Luo finished with a three-under second round to climb 29 spots to lead UNA after the first 36 holes. He dropped in eight birdies between the pair of rounds.
Behind the senior's play, North Alabama slots in sixth place as the only team at even par. The team finished one-over through the first round and then returned one-under in the second round.
UNA sits at a 4.50 rate when it comes to par 5s, best for second on the course behind the field's leader, College of Charleston.
While College of Charleston leads the field at 19-under with ASUN foe FGCU is second at 14-under. Liberty (six-under), VCU (four-under) and Richmond (four-under) round out the five ahead of the Lions.
North Alabama was the second-best Atlantic Sun Conference team on day one, in front of Stetson who finished in seventh at two-over while Jacksonville and North Florida finished tied for 11th at six-over.
The seventh through 13th place teams all are within five strokes of each other in the standings after the first two rounds.
Sebastian Bengtsson is the second leader for the Lions with his one-over two rounds as he shot even in the first round. The Swedish senior logged six birdies on the day.
After Bengtsson, Jedd Brady finished in 41st with a two-over day while Andrew Ferworn is six slots back in 47th at three-over. Brady saw as high as fifth in the first round as he finished four-under with a 68. The freshman totaled eight birdies for the day, tied for most on the team with Luo.
Blake Henriques earned his first start this semester and saw five birdies find the bottom of the cup. He finished in 65th through the first two rounds of the tournament.
North Alabama continues the Giles-Sprately Collegiate in Richmond, Va. on Tuesday, April 7 where round three will conclude the tournament.
