HOOVER, Ala. (April 6, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team closes its regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 7 with an away bout at UAB at 1 p.m. in Hoover, Ala.

The Lions enter with a 14-4 record. With a win over UAB, the Lions can end the regular season with the fewest losses in a single season since 2002. The Lions have a 48-18 record over the last three seasons.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: The Lions look to return to the win column after dropping a 4-1 result at Lipscomb on April 3. Despite the result, North Alabama has been victorious in 13 of its last 15 contests. UNA sports a strong 72.2 percent win percentage in singles bouts and 64.3 percent in doubles. Junior Emma Ansorge leads the team with a 13-2 record followed by freshman Sammie Schouten with a 12-4 record. Junior Mathilde Delaney also has double digit wins in singles with a 10-4 record. Junior Emma Ansorge and Delaney are the leaders in doubles with a 13-1 record. Ristola and freshman Farah Asaad have won eight doubles matches together, and Schouten and junior Louise Booker are winners of five doubles contests as a pair.
SCOUTING UAB: UAB will enter the weekend with a current 8-10 record. The Blazers will go for their fifth win in seven matches after dropping a 4-3 result to Arkansas State on April 3. Six players have six or more singles victories on the year, led by Gresi Bajri with nine. Julia Caffarena and Antonia Ende lead the team in doubles with a 10-6 record. The head coach for UAB in his 13th season is Mark Tjia.
SERIES HISTORY: The teams prep for the 17th meeting in series history. UNA looks to capture its first win over UAB in the Division I era and the second overall. UNA last defeated the Blazers in the 1991 season with a 5-4 victory.
