DELAND, Fla. (May 22, 2026) — The University of North Alabama baseball team fell in the winner's bracket of the 2026 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship against No. 2 Lipscomb 4-3 in a 14-inning thriller at Melching Field in DeLand, Fla.
The Lions will play No. 3 FGCU at 9:30 a.m. CT on Saturday morning. The winner of that game will advance to the championship final to face Lipscomb immediately following.
This game was originally meant to begin at 1 p.m. CT. However a weather delay occurred in the first game of the day — an elimination game between FGCU and No. 1 North Florida. It pushed back the start time to 7:20 p.m. CT for the game between the Lions and Bisons.
This was the seventh meeting this season between the pair of programs.
The two teams logged a five-hour, 20 minute game which is the longest in ASUN Tournament history. The former longest came from Stetson and Jacksonville set in 2015 at five hours and six minutes. The game spanned 14-innings and ended at 1:40 a.m. ET and 12:40 for those in CT.
Tonight — also the longest game of the season for UNA — broke the Division I school record which was set against Lipscomb in 2021 through 15 innings of play at five hours and five minutes.
North Alabama (30-27, 19-11 ASUN) scored the first three runs of the night in the second behind three singles and a sacrifice fly.
Lipscomb (28-24, 19-11 ASUN) responded in that same inning with a sacrifice fly of their own. The Bisons used a fielder's choice and error to tie the game in the seventh inning.
North Alabama recorded the most at-bats (49) and putouts (40) in a single game this season.
Only two extra base hits were allowed all game. North Alabama left 20 Bisons on the base path with seven through the five extra innings of play.
The Lions recorded their third straight game with double-digit hits. Will Millard led the way with three as Justin Santoyo and Tyler LePage each had two.
Reese Young delivered a quality start with three strikeouts with only five hits allowed. After his 6.1 innings were over, five other pitchers helped pitch for the night game.
Luke Davenport tried to close out the game and delivered with four strikeouts. Tyler Rice was introduced in the bottom of the ninth with bases juiced. He threw two strikeouts in his time and help get the putout to send the game to extras.
Typical game one starter, Justus Agosto, ran it the rest of the way to add two strikeouts. In the bottom of the 14th with one out, a near diving-catch from Alex Wade almost wiped away a hit. However, the ball landed on grass and Lipscomb's Cam Pruitt singled home the winning run.
