ABOUT LAST GAME: Before a two-week game break, the Lions held a 1-1 draw against Chattanooga in the final game at Cox Creek Sports Complex on Sept. 10. This was the first-ever draw between the programs, as the Mocs previously led the series 7-0. Junior forward Anna Fugarino scored 33 seconds into the game, setting the program's new Division I record for the fastest goal, previously held by Parker Martin, who scored 53 seconds into the Lions' August battle against Union. The Mocs responded in the 12th minute with a free kick goal from Quinn Johnson. Shortly after, in the 15th minute, captain Charlotte Sobotka bent a corner kick over the goalkeeper's head, but it was ruled dead after a foul was called; that goal would have been the game winner had it counted.
SERIES HISTORY: Thursday night will be the 17th all-time meeting between the two programs since 2004, but only the second meeting in the Division I era. The Lions hold an 11-4-2 advantage over the Wolves, with the most recent meeting coming in 2024. In that meeting, the only meeting between the two in the Division I era, the Lions earned a 3-0 victory at the Florence Sportsplex led by then freshman Anna Fugarino, who tallied a goal and an assist.
SCOUTING THE WOLVES: West Georgia enters this game and conference play with a record of 0-5-2. Their only two ties of the season come from battles with Jacksonville State and, most recently, Kennesaw State, which both ended 1-1. Their five consecutive losses were against Mercer, ETSU, MTSU, Western Carolina and Georgia State. Opponents outscore the Wolves 11-3, and all four of their home games this season have been losses. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Sanabria leads the UAC with 51 total saves, recording two 12-save games.
CONFERENCE OPENER SHUTOUTS: The Lions have opened conference play with a shutout win every year since 2023. That year, the Lions defeated then ASUN member Kennesaw State 2-0. In 2024, UNA welcomed newly-initiated ASUN member West Georgia to the conference as the Lions took home a 3-0 victory at the Florence Sportsplex. In 2025, UNA held Central Arkansas to a 1-0 win thanks to a Charlotte Sobotka game-winner to open conference play.
RPI RANKED: On Tuesday, the NCAA released the first RPI Rankings of the 2026 season. The Lions opened the polls at No. 98 — the highest mark in school history at the Division I level. North Alabama finished 137th in 2018 and 167th in 2025. Currently, the next closest UAC opponent is Abilene Christian in 206th place, followed by Eastern Kentucky in 208th. The Lions' only loss this season has been against Cal Baptist, who currently ranks 38th. The Lions have a 3-1-3 record.
