NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 24, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's tennis team opens its fall season this weekend at the Lipscomb/Belmont Invite, competing in a round-robin format against Lipscomb, Belmont, Middle Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
The invitational will begin on Friday and last through Sunday. Matches will be played at two locations; Belmont's Beaman Family Tennis Complex and Lipscomb's Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
Friday will consist of two rounds of doubles at the Beaman Family Tennis Center. Saturday will feature two rounds of singles at Lipscomb's Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center. Sunday will conclude the invitational with one round of doubles and one round of singles, with doubles beginning at 9 a.m. and singles beginning at 10 a.m. These will be played at Lipscomb's facility.
Round one of doubles on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. Three pairs from UNA will be competing, with one pair facing Vanderbilt and two facing MTSU. Round two of doubles will begin at 5:30 p.m. with two UNA pairs competing against Belmont and one pair competing against Lipscomb.
Saturday's first round of singles will begin at 9:00 a.m. UNA will have six individuals competing against Lipscomb. Round two of singles will begin at 1 p.m., as six Lions will face off against Belmont.
Sunday will feature the final round of doubles and singles. Beginning at 9 a.m., one Lion pair will face off against Vanderbilt, along with two pairs facing MTSU. The final round of singles will begin at 10 a.m. Two Lions will individually face Vanderbilt, three will face MTSU and one will face Lipscomb.
North Alabama is coming off an impressive 2025-26 season after finishing the 2026 spring with a 17-7 record and beating a Power Four team for the first time in program history with a postseason win over Kansas State. The Lions produced three All-ASUN selections, with Eeva Ristola earning First Team All-ASUN, Emma Ansorge earning Second Team All-ASUN and Sammie Schouten earning ASUN All-Freshman honors.
