Volleyball preps for Tuesday match at West Georgia

Lions set for second straight UAC road match

CARROLLTON, Ga. (September 28, 2026) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team heads to Carrollton, Ga. on Tuesday for both teams' third United Athletic Conference match.  

North Alabama (11-4, 1-1 UAC) will play its second straight UAC road match, while West Georgia (4-10, 0-2 UAC) will host its second match of a three-match UAC home stand.  

The matchup will be played inside The Coliseum located on the campus of West Georgia.  

The match will be streamed on ESPN+, and live stats will also be available on StatBroadcast.

NOTES 

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama has had 105 kills in the last two matches to begin conference play. The Lions recorded season highs of 66 kills, 148 digs, 10 blocks and 59 assists against Abilene Christian on Sept. 24.  

SETTING THE PACE: Junior setter Kinslee McGowan has been an offensive leader this season, leading the conference with an average of 10.02 assists per set. She has 471 assists on the season and reached a career milestone of 2,000 career kills against Abilene Christian on Sept. 24.  

OUTSIDE ATTACK: North Alabama has three Lions who have 100+ kills. Junior Reese Ricketts leads the way with 165 kills and ranks second in the UAC in kills per set with 3.44. Junior Dylann Garner has the second-most kills on the team with 138. She also ranks sixth in the UAC with 2.94 kills per set. Senior Phoebe Reyes Fortunato is right behind Garner with 134 kills and ranks ninth in the UAC in kills per set with 2.79.  

BLOCK PARTY: Freshman Anna Hoffmayer and sophomore Jenna Kolosta are the Lions' two leading blockers. Hoffmayer leads the team with 43 total blocks and five block solos. She ranks seventh in the UAC in total blocks. The freshman also recorded her season high of seven blocks against Abilene Christian on Sept. 24. Kolosta has 30 on the season and had five last week.  

MARTINDALE DIGS: Senior Ava Martindale is making the most of her senior year, recording 233 digs in her first 15 matches to average 4.76 digs per set, which ranks third in the UAC. 

SCOUTING THE WOLVES: West Georgia has dropped their first two UAC matches, losing to UT Arlington 2-3 and Abilene Christian 0-3. Over those two matches, the Wolves had a hitting percentage of .175. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST WEST GEORGIA: The Lions lead the series history over the Wolves by a wide margin, 70-16. North Alabama has swept the last two meetings since West Georgia joined the same conference as the Lions. According to available records, the first meeting was in 1979, which is how far UNA's record books date back to. The Wolves won this match 2-1.
