Jonathan Ortiz

Jonathan Ortiz enters his second season as the video coordinator for the North Alabama men’s basketball team. He came to UNA after serving one season with Tennessee Tech men’s basketball as the director of operations.

Prior to the 2018-19 season, Ortiz worked alongside current UNA men’s basketball assistant coach, Tom Berryman, as a graduate assistant at Southeast Missouri State. He also served two years as a student manager for the Tennessee Tech men’s team during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns.

While serving as director of operations at Tennessee Tech under the direction of head coach Steve Payne, Ortiz was responsible for team travel and hotels, home and away team meals, team video, team gear and equipment. In addition, he managed the program's operating budget, day-to-day team operations and served as the team’s media and graphic designer. Ortiz was tabbed as the youngest NCAA Division I director of operations in men’s basketball during his time at Tennessee Tech.

During his time at Southeast Missouri State (SEMO), he held similar responsibilities under the direction of head coach, Rick Ray. Ortiz handled video operations, team meals, media and graphic design, on campus recruiting visits and was an assistant to the director of operations.

In his first stint at TTU, he served as a student manager for two seasons. Serving as the head manager for one season, he held various responsibilities for the Golden Eagles, such as practice and game operations, team meals and summer camp. His efforts were enough to earn a full-time spot on staff a year later in Cookeville.

Ortiz graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2017 receiving a bachelor's degree in sports administration with a minor in business.
