Biography

UNA 2016: Austin started all 35 matches for the Lions last season as UNA won its second straight Gulf South Conference championship...she was a second team All-GSC selection...led the team and was second in the league with a .359 hitting percentage...recorded 298 kills with a 2.44 per-set average...was second on the team with 81 total blocks...added seven assists and 49 digs on the year...had a season-high total of 13 kills twice.

UNA 2015: She started all 34 matches for UNA in 2015...hit .345 for the year, averaging 2.79 kills per set...reached double digits in kills 16 times, including each match of the GSC Tournament...her 23 kills in the GSC championship match was a career-high and helped her earn Most Outstanding Player of the event as UNA captured the 3-2 victory over West Florida...was also a second-team All-South Region selection by D2CCA...added 85 total blocks on the season, averaging 0.73 per set...received GSC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 3 after recording 11 blocks in wins over Union and Christian Brothers...also finished the season with 10 assists and 59 digs.

UNA 2014: She saw action in 16 matches for the Lions in 2014...came on strong late in the year, starting the final four matches of the season at middle hitter...recorded double digits in kills in each of the three Gulf South Conference Tournament matches, including a career-high 13 in the GSC championship match against Valdosta State...was selected to the all-tournament team...finished the season with 73 kills...also added three assists, eight digs and 13 total blocks.

HIGH SCHOOL: She prepped for coach Michael Love at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, Mich...was named the team's MVP as well as team captain...was also an all-region and all-league selection as an outside hitter.

PERSONAL: Her full name is Jessica Lynn Austin. She is the daughter of Ron and Chris Austin. She was born on June 3, 1996 and has two brothers. She is majoring in exercise science at UNA.
