Biography
UNA 2015: Fomina saw action in all 34 matches for the Lions last season...she led the team with 451 kills and a 3.82 kills per set average...was named first team All-Gulf South Conference and three-time GSC Player of the Week...also received first team All-South Region honors by both D2CCA and the AVCA...later became the program's 14th All-American with a second-team selection by the AVCA...hit .279 for the year and added 33 service aces, nine assists, 140 digs and 54 total blocks...reached double figures in kills 24 times with four matches with at least 20 kills...set a new career-high of 28 kills on Nov. 15 during a 3-1 win at Valdosta State...was also a GSC All-Academic selection after recording a 3.88 GPA with a major in professional marketing.
UNA 2014: She played in all 32 matches for UNA in 2014...had 14 starts and saw action in a total of 115 sets...was second on the team with 326 kills and a 2.83 kills-per-set average...reached double figures in kills 19 times, including a new career-high 20 kills on Oct. 25 during a 3-1 road win at UAH...added 87 digs on the year with 36 total blocks...also had three assists and a service ace.
UNA 2013: She saw action in 32 matches, including 106 sets as a true freshman for the Lions in 2013...was second on the team with 289 kills, as well as a 2.73 per-set average...led the team with 33 service aces...also added nine assists, 116 digs and 28 total blocks...recorded double-digit kill totals in 14 matches, including four of the last five matches of the season...hit .333 with a season-high 16 kills during a 3-1 win over Valdosta State in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament.
COLLEGE: She was a freshman on the 2012 roster at Texas State, receiving a medical redshirt after seeing action in the season opener on Aug. 24 against Texas A&M.
HIGH SCHOOL: She played for coach Eric Jesse at Legacy High School...she was a two-time all-conference selection for the Lightning...averaged 2.7 kills per set with 137 digs, 60 assists and 30 service aces during her senior season.
PERSONAL: Her full name is Natalja Pavlovna Fomina. She is the daughter of Luda and Jim Sherman. She was born on February 17, 1994. She is majoring in business at UNA.
