INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of North Alabama women's soccer team will host the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament for the second time in three years this weekend as the Lions host Mississippi College and West Florida in the three-team event.
UNA, 13-3-2 overall, will be making its seventh NCAA post-season appearance in the last nine years.
The tournament begins at 1 p.m. Friday (November 10) at the UNA Soccer Field with fourth seeded North Alabama playing fifth seeded West Florida (15-4-1). Mississippi College, the number one seed with a 15-3-1 record, will then face the winner of that game at 1 p.m. on Sunday (November 12).
Tickets are $5 and will be on sale at the gate. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
There were 48 teams selected for the 2017 NCAA Tournament with six teams in each of eight regions.
Second seeded Nova Southeastern (12-4-1) is hosting the other half of the South Region bracket and will play the winner of a match between Lee (16-4) and Florida Tech (9-7-3).
North Alabama made four straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2009-12 and were back in 2014 and 2015.
The Lions have competed in the South Region Tournament each time and are 2-6 in NCAA post-season games.
