LIONS ROUT AUM TO IMPROVE TO 6-0

FLORENCE – Ivy Wallen scored 23 points to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to an 87-55 win over visiting Auburn-Montgomery Tuesday evening at Flowers Hall. The victory keeps the Lions perfect on the season at 6-0.

With UNA trailing 10-7 midway through the first quarter, the Lions used a 12-2 run to take control. A three-point basket by Wallen started the run while another trey by KeKe Gunter at the buzzer gave the home team a 19-12 lead.

UNA stretched the lead to 37-25 at the half and the Warhawks could never get within single digits over the final two quarters. Following a 36-minute delay in the fourth quarter due to a tornado warning in the area, the Lions continued to pull away. The largest lead came with 3:02 remaining when a three-pointer by Jennifer McMahan made the score 82-47.

Gunter added 11 points on the night while Emma Wallen tossed in 10 points for the Lions.

AUM (1-6) was led by Danielle Gaines-Jordan's nine points and three rebounds.

North Alabama will now turn its attention to its Gulf South Conference opener. The Lions will host in-state rival UAH on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
