UNA VOLLEYBALL DOWNS MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 3-1

CLINTON, Miss., – After dropping the first set against Mississippi College, the University of North Alabama volleyball team claimed the next three victories to post a 3-1 Gulf South Conference win on the road. The 20-25, 25-13, 25-8, 25-11 win is the seventh straight for the Lions, moving the team to 25-4 on the season and 15-3 in GSC play.
 
UNA hit.114 in the opening set, collecting just 12 kills as the Choctaws pulled away late.
 
An 8-0 run got things going for the Lions in the second set. Natasha Fomina had five kills as UNA evened the match. The third set was the most dominant for North Alabama. The Lions hit .435 in the frame while MC was held to a -.083 hitting percentage.
 
Leading 2-1 in the match, UNA finished the match with a balanced attach in the fourth set. Fomina, Jessica Austin and Victoria Quintanilla had three kills each. The Lions finished the match with 48 kills, 61 digs, and eight blocks.
 
Fomina turned in a match-high 14 kills. Austin just missed double figures with nine kills while Quintanilla finished with eight kills on the night. Jayden Davila-McClary recorded 40 assists while Ashtyn Kapovich produced 18 digs for UNA.
 
The victory completes North Alabama's season sweep over Mississippi College, extending its all-time record to 26-3 against the Choctaws.
 
UNA will return home for its last two regular-season matches of the season. The Lions will host West Florida next Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. showdown against Valdosta State the following day.
