NASHVILLE, Tenn. – North Alabama scored four runs over the final four innings but it wasn't enough as the Lions dropped a 7-5 decision at Trevecca Nazarene. It was UNA's sixth straight loss as the Lions drop to 15-14 overall.
UNA trailed 6-0 early before the rally and out-hit the Trojans 12 to nine in the game but couldn't pull out the win.
Trevecca got a run in the first inning, added three in the second and two in the third for a 6-0 lead. North Alabama starter
Taylor Knight lasted just one and a third innings and allowed four runs on two hits with two walks.
Chris Sparkman then pitched two innings and gave up two runs on three hits.
Shawn Smirnoff pitched two and two-thirds innings and allowed just one hit and no runs.
Devan Traglia pitched the final two innings and gave up a run in the seventh.
UNA got a run in the fourth inning to close the gap to 6-1 and then made it 6-2 with a run in the sixth. Trevecca made it 7-2 with a run in the seventh before UNA scored two more runs in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Kevin Hall led UNA with three hits and
Jess Smith and
Heath Wood had two hits each.
UNA begins a three-game Gulf South Conference road series Saturday at Alabama-Huntsville.
