TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
Dylan Calhoun delivered a two-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to give the University of North Alabama a 2-1 win over Stillman.
Stillman took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning off a hit batter, single and sacrifice fly. UNA's Payton Sockwell then drew a leadoff walk in the ninth and was sacrificed to second by
Kyle Crabtree. A
Conner Kiser ground-out sent Sockell to third with two outs. Calhoun then doubled down the right field line to put UNA on top 2-1.
Blake Talley came on in relief to pitch a scoreless ninth inning and earn his third save of the year.
Bradley Bailey (3-1) got the win for UNA in relief.
With the win, UNA is now 21-20 overall.
UNA starter
Shawn Smirnoff pitched six and a third innings, allowing no runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Dylan Stewart pitched one inning of relief and allowed a run on one hit. Bailey pitched two-thirds of an inning to complete the eighth and the Lions claimed the lead in the top of the ninth.
The Lions will play a three-game Gulf South Conference series Saturday and Sunday at Christian Brothers.
The Lions were out-hit seven to three in the game.
