Kevin Hall went four-for-four and
Taylor Hayes drove in five runs as the University of North Alabama downed Spring Hill 11-2 at Mike Lane Field. The win snapped a nine-game losing skid for the Lions and ups UNA's record to 16-17. Spring Hill falls to 19-14.
Hall had two singles, a double and a triple, scored three runs and drove in two in two runs as the Lions outhit the Badgers 17 to nine.
UNA got three runs in the first inning on an RBI-single from Hall and a two-run double from Hayes. Hayes then singled in two more runs in the second to make it 5-1 after the Badgers had scored a run in the top of the second. Hall drove in a run with a triple in the sixth and then scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-1.
Spring Hill scored a run in the eighth to make it 7-2 but UNA then scored four runs in the eighth off six singles to make it 11-2.
Shawn Smirnoff (1-1) got the win for UNA, allowing just one run on five hits over six and a third innings.
Dylan Stewart pitched one and two-thirds innings and gave up a run on three hits.
Tanner Traglia pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
UNA hosts a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College this Saturday and Sunday at Mike Lane Field.
