UNA WOMEN FALTER IN SECOND HALF AGAINST WOLVES

CARROLLTON, Ga., – North Alabama let a seven-point halftime lead slip away in a 78-66 loss at West Georgia Thursday evening in Gulf South Conference women's basketball action. With the loss, UNA falls to 16-7 overall with a 10-7 record in GSC play.
 
The Lions led 37-30 at the break. The Wolves, however, shot 55.2 percent in the second half, while UNA was held to 7-of-33 shooting over the final 20 minutes of play.
 
Ivy Wallen scored a game-high 25 points, including a 10-of-12 showing from the free throw line. West Georgia countered with two player with 20-plus points on the night.
 
UNA led 50-43 with exactly 5:00 remaining in the third quarter before an 8-0 run by the home team changed momentum. The run reached 15-0 to give the Wolves a seven-point advantage before two free throws by Michaela DeKilder broke the drought. The Lions, however, would not hit a shot from the floor until the 6:11 mark in the game.
 
Katelynn Nunley connected on a three-point play to cut the lead to 65-55, but could get no closer than six down the stretch.
 
Emma Wallen added 14 points for UNA, but represented the only other player for the Lions to reach double figures.
 
Aysha Harris (23 points) and De'Ashia Jones (22 points) led West Georgia, which improves to 10-10 overall and 9-7 in GSC play.
 
UNA will play at West Alabama on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Pruitt Hall on the UWA campus in Livingston.
