MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Trailing 2-1 in 55
th minute, the University of North Alabama scored two goals in 54 seconds as the Lions rallied for a 4-2 Gulf South Conference women's soccer win over Auburn-Montgomery.
With the win, UNA improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Lions have won four straight.
UNA's
Kylie Huey scored her third goal of the season just over two minutes into the match, at the 2:04 mark.
Beatriz Fernandes assisted on the goal.
AUM tied the match on a goal by Stine Svaerke at 7:17 and took the lead on a goal by Allison Singletary just four minutes later at 11:22. The Warhawks carried that lead into the second half but Huey tied the match at 2-2 with her fourth goal of the season at the 54:02 mark.
Michelle Hunter assisted on the goal. Then, just 54 seconds later, UNA's
Margarida Sousa gave the Lions the lead with a goal at 54:56.
Shelby Wall assisted to give UNA a 3-2 lead.
Hunter gave UNA an insurance goal at 72:53 off another assist from Wall.
The Lions play at Montevallo Sunday.
AUM falls to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the GSC.
