UNA WOMEN RUN PAST WEST FLORIDA 83-51

FLORENCE – Emma Wallen hit six three-point baskets and finished with 26 points to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to an 83-51 victory over West Florida Thursday evening at Flowers Hall. The win gives the Lions a 17-2 record on the season, including a 10-2 mark in Gulf South Conference play.
 
UNA opened the game on a 21-5 run and never looked back. The Lions shot 45 percent from the floor in the opening quarter and held the visitors to 1-of-16 shooting.
 
After taking a 37-22 lead into the half, North Alabama was able to extend its lead over the final two quarters. Wallen connected on a layup and a three-pointer to push the lead to 42-22 in the opening minute of the third quarter. West Florida could get no closer than 16 the rest of the way.
 
North Alabama led by 22 when a basket by the Argonauts made the score 71-49 with 4:04 remaining. It would be the final field goal of the game for UWF as the Lions closed the game on a 12-2 run.
 
Nine different players scored for UNA. Brittany Panetti also reached double figures with 12 points. Michaela DeKilder pulled down eight rebounds in the first quarter alone and finished with nine points and 11 boards for the game.
 
Imani Mulmore led West Florida (12-7 overall, 7-5 GSC) with 12 points.
 
UNA will host Valdosta State on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
