WALLEN, LIONS TOP CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 92-65

FLORENCE – Ivy Wallen scored 29 points and dished out nine assists and the University of North Alabama women's basketball team improved to 14-1 on the season with a 92-65 home win over Christian Brothers on Tuesday. With the win, the Lions also maintain second place in the Gulf South Conference standings with a 7-1 league record.
 
Nine different players scored for UNA, which led 39-26 at the half, but did not pull away until the fourth quarter. A basket by CBU cut the lead to 65-55 early in the final period, but the Lady Bucs could never get within single digits.
 
Nursing the 10-point lead, the Lions used a 10-2 run before another CBU basket made the score 75-59 with 5:45 remaining. North Alabama then scored the next 14 points to put the game out of reach. Wallen capped the run with a jumper at the 2:46 mark to give UNA an 89-59 lead.
 
Brittany Panetti added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Lions. Emma Wallen also had 13 points on the night.
 
Christian Brothers (4-9 overall, 3-4 GSC) held a 39-34 edge in rebounding, including 15 at the offensive end of the floor. Brynne Lytle led the Lady Bucs with 15 points.
 
UNA will play at West Georgia on Jan. 13. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. (EST) at the Coliseum on the UWG campus in Carrollton, Ga.
