UNA VOLLEYBALL FALLS 3-0 AT FLORIDA GULF COAST

FORT MYERS, Fla., – Florida Gulf Coast jumped out to quick early leads in all three sets en route to a 3-0 sweep over North Alabama Friday in ASUN Conference volleyball action. With the 25-7, 25-8, 25-17 Setback, the Lions fall to 2-18 overall and 0-11 in conference play.
 
After totaling only 15 points in the first two games combined, UNA was most competitive in the third set. The Lions trailed 10-6 early in the final frame before FGCU pulled away.
 
North Alabama hit negative in the first two sets before recording a .171 showing in the final game. FGCU (19-6 overall, 10-1 ASUN) finished the match with a .423 team hitting percentage after collecting 48 kills on 97 swings with just seven attack errors.
 
Christian Ellwanger led the Lions with seven kills on the night. The sophomore also hit .462 for the match and added six digs.  Jayden Davila-McClary notched 15 assists while Genesis Benítez produced a match-high 16 digs.
 
UNA will play at Liberty on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. (EST) on the LU campus in Lynchburg, Va.
