LIONS TOP AUBURN-MONTGOMERY 69-51

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team tied a program record for regular-season wins Wednesday with a 69-51 home win over Auburn-Montgomery. With the victory, the Lions improve to 23-2 on the year tying the 1983-84 UNA squad that went 23-3 in the regular season.
 
Against AUM, three players reached double figures in scoring as the Lions moved to 16-2 in Gulf South Conference play. Brittany Panetti led the way with 18 points.
 
The Lions opened the game on a 16-3 run, capped by Emma Wallen's three-point basket with 3:09 remaining in the first quarter. UNA led by as many as 14 in the second quarter before the War Hawks closed the half with five straight points to make the score 31-22 at the break.
 
Panetti did most of her damage in the third quarter, scoring 10 points, including a pair of baskets in the final two minutes as North Alabama extended its lead to 51-33. The largest lead of the night came with 4:07 remaining when a transition basket by Kenysha Coulson gave UNA a 65-41 lead.
 
Savannah Stults added 16 points for the Lions while Wallen finished with 15 points on the night. Makaylla Bullard led Auburn-Montgomery (8-17 overall, 4-14 GSC) with a game-high 19 points.
 
UNA will play at Valdosta State on Feb. 17. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. (Central) at The Complex on the VSU campus.
