FLORENCE, Ala. --
T.J. Lockett delivered a walk-off hit in the 10th inning of the opener and
Lane Wallace pitche a complete game in the nightcap as North Alabama swept a Gulf South Conference double-header from West Georgia, 5-4 and 4-1.
With the sweep of the series, North Alabama is now 25-12 overall and 15-6 in GSC play. West Georgia falls to 21-15 overall and 9-12 in the GSC after being swept in a conference series for the first time this season.
UNA held a 4-0 lead in the opener before the Wolves rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to tie it. The game remained tied into the bottom of the tenth inning when Lockett singled to lfet-center to drive in pinch runner
Conner Kiser with the winning run.
Channing Wall (3-1) got the win after pitching three innings of relief.
In the second game UNA held a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning before
Kyle Hubbuch hammered a two-run home run to center field to push it to 4-1.
Lane Wallace (5-3) pitched seven complete innings and allowed just one run on two hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
UNA scored early in the opener as Lockett walked, stole second and scored on an RBI-double by Hubbuch. Lockett then reached base on an error in the fifth and scored on a throwing error to make it 2-0.
In the seventh,
Kevin Brenning doubled and Hubbuch was intentionally walked. On a successful double-steal, UWG's catcher threw the ball away at third, allowing Brenning to score and make it 3-0. Hubbuch then scored on an RBI-single by
Brandt Holland.
In West Georgia's eighth, the Wolves got three hits, a walk and an error to score two runs and force UNA starter
Shane Priest from the game. UWG scored a run when Wall got Logan Arnett to ground into a double-play and Gabriel Wurtz then doubled in a run to tie the game at 4-4.
In the bottom of the tenth,
Logan Carter got a leadoff single for the Lions and moved to second on a single by
Ben Cooley. Lockett then delivered the game-winner. It was UNA's third extra-inning win of the season.
In the nightcap, Wallace carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning and held the Wolves scoreless until the fifth.
UNA's
Peyton Sockwell singled and later scored on a balk in the second inning for the game's first run. Tata Mathis singled in the fourth and scored on a
Payton Thomas RBI-single to make it 2-0.
Wurtz hit a solo home run for West Georgia's only run in the top of the fifth. Hubbuch answered with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-1. It was his 12th home run of the season and the 39th of his career at UNA.
Hubbuch's RBI-double in the opener was his 200th hit at UNA, making him just the fourth player in school history to reach that plateau.
North Alabama plays a single, non-conference game on Tuesday at Alabama A&M.
