LIBERTY RALLIES FOR 3-1 WIN OVER UNA VOLLEYBALL

FLORENCE – After winning the opening set 25-23, the University of North Alabama volleyball team came up short in the next three games to drop a 3-1 decision to visiting Liberty Friday at Flowers Hall. The 25-23, 19-25, 18-25, 19-25 loss leaves UNA with a 2-10 overall record and 0-3 mark in ASUN play.
 
The Lions hit .360 in the opening frame before recording a negative showing in the next two sets and .077 in the final game. Senior Madison Ruble led the way with 12 kills and a .346 hitting percentage. Christina Ellwanger added 11 kills and seven digs on the night. The sophomore also had four of the team's nine service aces.
 
Setters Emma Ellis and Jayden Davila-McClary notched 15 assists each. Defensively, Catie Ladner led the Lions with nine digs.
 
 Amelia Johnson led Liberty (6-10 overall, 3-0 ASUN) with 12 kills.
 
UNA will host pre-season ASUN favorite Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
