FGCU VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS UNA

FLORENCE – Facing a co-leader in the ASUN conference standings for the second straight match, the North Alabama volleyball came up short against Florida Gulf Coast 25-14, 25-6, 25-22 Sunday afternoon at Flowers Hall.
 
With five games remaining in the regular season, UNA is now 3-21 overall and 1-10 in ASUN play. The Lions remain in eighth place in the league standings. The top six teams qualify for the conference tournament Nov. 21-23 in Fort Myers, Fla.
 
Against FGCU, the Lions struggled at the net, hitting .067 as a team with 17 attack errors. The Eagles (21-3 overall) remained tied with Kennesaw State atop the standings with a 9-1 ASUN record.
 
Anna Katherine Griggs led UNA with six kills on the day. Fellow freshman Sarah-Elizabeth Williams added four kills and three blocks. Tori Morris led the Eagles with a match-high 10 kills.
 
UNA will travel to Jacksonville on Oct. 31. Match time is set for 6 p.m. (Central) at Swisher Gymnasium in the JU campus.
