UNA WOMEN TOP TENNESSEE STATE 88-63

NASHVILLE, Tenn., – Five players reached double figures in scoring as the University of North Alabama women's basketball team went on the road to knock off Tennessee State 88-63 Monday evening in Nashville. With the win, UNA improves to 3-1 on the season.
 
Brittany Panetti and Emma Wallen scored 15 points each and the Lions added 29 points from the bench in the balanced scoring effort.
 
North Alabama led 42-29 at the half and took a 67-54 lead into the final period after both teams scored 25 points in the third quarter. UNA's depth, however, then began to become a factor. Jaylin Austin scored eight of her nine points in the final frame. She also finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
UNA led by as many as six early before taking a 19-18 lead into the second quarter. Tennessee State made only five shots, but nailed a three-point basket from the top of the key as time expired to cut the deficit to 19-18 at the end of the opening period.
 
The Lions turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, forcing six turnovers and holding TSU without a field goal for more than four minutes. Offensively, UNA used a 12-2 run to take control. Ivy Wallen scored or assisted on every point during the spurt, including a full-court pass to Ansley Eubank in stride for a layup to make the score 42-26 with 1:09 remaining.
 
Tennessee State converted a three-point play in the final minute to cut the deficit to 42-29 at the break. After trailing by as many as 18 in the third quarter, TSU then rallied to make the score 67-54 heading into the final period.
 
Jaida Bond added 13 points for North Alabama. Eubank and Ivy Wallen added 11 points each. Ivy also finished with 10 assists to reach double figures for the third time in four games this season.
 
UNA will host Samford on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. at Flowers Hall.
