BEACH VOLLEYBALL SPLITS MATCHES AT UAB BEACH BASH

BIRMINGHAM – The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team went 1-1 on each day of the UAB Beach Bash over the weekend, opening the program's inaugural season with a 2-2 record.
 
After dropping a 4-1 season-opening decision to the host Blazers on Friday, UNA rebounded with a 3-2 win over Huntingdon College and record the program's first-ever victory. On Saturday, the Lions opened play with a 3-2 victory over Jacksonville State. North Alabama closed out the event with a 3-2 loss to Louisiana-Monroe.
 
Ava Carnley and Libby Jump had the strongest showing over the weekend. The duo teamed up to post a 4-0 record, playing all four matches at the No. 4 position. Sophia Brandstetter and Paula Klemperer also went 3-1 at the No. 1 spot, with the lone loss coming to UAB.
 
UNA will play Huntingdon again on March 14. Match time is set for 2 p.m. on the Hawks campus in Montgomery.
