UNA WOMEN ADD POINT GUARD FROM JAPAN

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team has added another to player to its 2020-21 roster. After playing two seasons at Kwansei University in her home country of Japan, Hina Suzuki has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lions. She will be a junior and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Suzuki averaged 14.2 points per game in her first two seasons. She shot 43.9 percent from the floor, including 37.8 percent from three-point range and added 5.8 assists, 4.25 steals and 3.25 rebounds per game.

"Hina will bring added experience to the point guard position," said UNA head coach Missy Tiber. "She has played against upper talent levels in Japan and was very successful in high school. We continue to strive to bring previously successful players into the program to help elevate everyone. Hina brings the type of talent we look for in a point guard with speed, quickness and an ability to find the open teammate. This is our first player from Japan so that's very exciting as well."

In high school, Suzuki was an All-Osaka and tournament MVP selection has her team, Osaka Toin Senior High School, won the Japanese national championship.
