FORT MYERS, Fla., – The University of North Alabama men's basketball team couldn't hold a three-point halftime lead on Saturday, falling 69-60 at FGCU. The third straight loss gives the Lions a 10-6 overall record with a 6-4 mark in ASUN Conference play.

UNA took a 34-31 lead into the break. The Eagles, however, shot 45.4 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes and held the Lions scoreless for extended periods of time.

After a three-point basket by FGCU early in the second half tied the game, a basket by Mervin James put the Lions ahead 36-34. The Eagles responded with consecutive baskets by Cyrus Largie to take the lead and the home team never trailed again.

A dunk by James tied the game at 38-38 before FGCU got a three-pointer and a runner in the lane to go up by five. The lead never reached double digits, but the Lions could never pull even.

North Alabama got within three late on a basket by Payton Youngblood. The layup made the score 60-57 at the 4:10 mark. The Eagles, however, got baskets on back-to-back trips while UNA missed its next four shots.

Another trey by Youngblood cut the lead to 66-60 in the final minute, but the Eagle were able to run down the shot clock before putting the game away with a three-pointer from the corner.

James led UNA with 12 points before fouling out with 4:35 remaining. Emanuel Littles added 10 points and 10 rebounds on the night.

Jalen Warren led FGCU (9-6 overall, 4-4 ASUN) with a game-high 28 points.

UNA will host Liberty Feb. 12-13. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. both nights at Flowers Hall.
