BEACH VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NORTH FLORIDA, STETSON

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., – The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to North Florida and Stetson Thursday by identical 5-0 scores. The two losses leave UNA with a 3-4 record on the season.

The Lions began the day against the host Ospreys. North Florida picked up victories at No. 5, No. 4 and No. 2 to clinch the match. Wins at No. 1 and No. 3 completed the sweep for UNF.

Lauren Quigley and Jelena Girod had the closes set of the opener, falling 23-21 at the No. 3 spot. The 21-11 defeat in the second set represented the final point of the match.

Following the opening match, the Lions remained on the UNF campus for the showdown against No. 14 Stetson. The Hatters got straight-set victories in all five matches. Wins at No. 5, No. 4 and No. 3 quickly clinched the match before two more victories at the top two positions wrapped up the scoring.

UNA will return to Jacksonville for another tournament March 13-14. The Lions will face Eckerd College, the College of Charleston and the host Ospreys again at the two-day event.
