NASHVILLE, Tenn. --
Hunter Davidson allowed just three runs over eight and a third innings in leading the University of North Alabama to a 6-3 win over Lipscomb in ASUN Conference baseball play.
It was the Lions fourth straight win over the Bisons this season and improves UNA's record to 6-33 overall and 5-14 in ASUN play. Lipscomb falls to 14-23 overall and 5-11 in the ASUN.
UNA got a run in the first inning and three more in the second for a 4-0 lead that it would not relinquish.
The Lions pushed it to 5-0 with a run in the fifth before the Bisons scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut the advantage to 5-3. UNA added an insurance run in the seventh to make the final count 6-3.
Davidson (2-5) scattered 14 hits over his eight and a third innings with two walks and one strikeout.
Austin Nichols pitched the final two thirds of an inning to earn his second save.
Drew Hudson led off the game with a single for UNA and later scored on a ground-out by
Kylan Barnett.
In the second,
Austin Thrasher singled, stole second and scored on an RBI-double by Hudson. After an intentional walk to
Devne Daniel, Barnett tripled to drive in two more runs.
In the fifth, Daniel walked and later scored on a
Reid Homan RBI-single to make it 5-0.
UNA's final run came in the seventh as Barnett doubled and later scored on a ground-out by Homan.
The win snapped a 25-game road losing skid for the Lions that dated back to 2020.
The Lions and Bisons will play the second game of the three-game series Saturday.
